How Wireless Internet Works

Our technicians place a radio at your location that includes the electronics for receiving and transmitting your wireless connection.  The radio is attached to any high point on your home or business that has a clear line-of-sight to Wigi Wireless access points (APs).  A Cat5 cable is attached to the radio that carries power and a network connection.  This is connected inside your location to a POE which is connected to a source of power and to your computer or computer network.  A wireless, radio wave-based connection is established between your location and one of our APs which produces the signals for your high speed internet connection.

Important note:  Our internet signals do NOT come from satellites.  They come from direct line-of-sight from your location to one of our APs.  Interference from trees, buildings, and other obstructions may prohibit our technicians from being able to establish a wireless signal and install internet services at specific locations.
